Book Review – Just William
Just William by Richmal Crompton is a collection of short stories featuring the mischievous and lovable character, William Brown. The book is a humorous and entertaining read that follows the adventures of William and his gang, the Outlaws, as they get into all sorts of trouble in their small English village.
The writing in the book is witty and clever, capturing the voice and perspective of a young boy. William is a relatable and likable character, and his interactions with the other characters in the book, both adults and children, are both amusing and heart warming. The stories are episodic in nature, which makes it easy to pick up and read one or two at a time.
Just William is a must-read for anyone who loves a good laugh and a heart warming story. It is a timeless classic that will be enjoyed by readers of all ages. The collection of short stories is a perfect read for those who are looking for a light-hearted and entertaining read. The book has a charming and nostalgic feel that will appeal to both children and adults alike.
I would give this book 4 out of 5 stars and would highly recommend it to young readers. Whilst reading Just William with my son life started imitating art as we read about William feigning illness to get out of learning French verbs and my son feigning illness to get out of reading which made me laugh out loud. A good read for boys, girls and adults - we thoroughly enjoyed the short stories of a time gone by.
